On June 6, there will be several events taking place, including games, food, and music, with donation points located throughout Du Quoin and the surrounding area

In the villages that dot the Southern Illinois map, people who might be normally be strangers will come together for all the right reasons. That kindness and kinship are founded in a sort of oneness that takes place between small-town folks. On Saturday, June 6th, at Route 51 Brewery, that same hometown spirit will try to lend a helping hand to Maven Cole.

The #MAVENSTRONG benefit, also known by the campaign’s phrase “Standing Tall Against Osteosarcoma,” will see family, friends, and good Samaritans come together behind 12-year-old Maven, who has been diagnosed with bone cancer.
The day’s agenda starts at noon and will feature games, music, food, and generosity, all tied together by a common goal.
Benefit attendees can participate in a bags tournament sponsored by AES Solar, browse silent auction items, purchase baked goods, and take chances on raffles ranging from firearms to a whole processed hog donated with the help of Sanchez Meat Processing.
No outside food & beverages will be permitted. However, the kitchen at Route 51 Brewery will remain open from noon until 9 p.m., with a portion of every sale going directly to Maven’s family.
Live music from We Got It Covered will be the highlight of the evening events. Donations have poured in from businesses across the region, including St. Nicholas Brewery and Kalin’s Café, proving once again how deeply connected these communities truly are.
