With the departure of many of our local restaurants, the number of takeout options has been limited for the residents of Du Quoin. Even major chains and local staples like Hardee's and Pizza Hut have moved on, leaving us with just a few of the 'name-brand' eating establishments left in a town that's certainly big enough to support them.

At the same time, we still have fantastic, locally owned establishments like St. Nick's, Kalin's Cafe, Tomahawks, and our own Du Quoin landmark, Alongi's. They should continue to receive the full support of the community. In fact? Even more so.

However, it would be nice to have a few more good, old-fashioned, unhealthy-stuff-you-shouldn't-eat kind of places. It's that throwaway meal that you just grab because it's quick, fast, and easy.

So, which type of chain would you like to see come to Du Quoin? Something new, like an Arby's or Chili's? Or, perhaps a return of one of our former stores that have moved on?
